The majority or your grade will be dependent on how well you use the critical writing pattern of ‘they say + citation / I say plus an example of what you are trying to say.’ See Grading Rubric in the Syllabus for more details.

It is my expectation that you will use LDRS 300 course texts, articles and lectures as your primary sources for your critical academic writing. Outside sources may be used only to substantiate the point you are making using our course material first.

The online group discussions are a conversational form of writing that encourages you to think about your thoughts in relation to your classmate’s thinking, so we all can learn to think critically in a constructive manor. You are required to post a reflection to a given prompt, and then, make a minimum of two written reply posts to others’ reflections and/or replies for each of the two DQs.

A key component of this part of the course is to encourage students to dialogue with the material amongst each other. All posts must connect to the course material and show a deep understanding of the relevant literature. I may add to or join these forums to keep the discussion focused on the course content or assist students in answering the questions reflecting the content. Currently, APA 7th Edition style is the University’s accepted format for citations and references in all written work, which includes the work on the online forums. All forum submissions must use the APA in-text-citations to clearly reference the connection to the literature. This applies to the initial and the subsequent posts.

1. The initial post is to be posted first and have 300-500 words (POSTED 4 DAYS FROM WHEN THIS CLASS ENDS.)

• The original post is substantive, showing depth of knowledge on the topic.
  • Your post must incorporate at least two (2) citations + Reference list.

2. After you have posted your Initial Post, post at least two (2) interactive reply posts to your classmates INITIAL POST and are to be 100-250 words each (POSTED BEFORE YOUR NEXT LDRS 300 CLASS BEGINS)

• Providing a new thought, idea, or perspective;
• Citing an experience or example of what we are learning;
• Adding a new twist on a perspective;
• Critically thinking about an idea/concept;
• Questioning or challenging a principle/perspective.
