Biography and Theory

Students are to write a 3-page paper (not including references) on the biography of a theorist we have covered this semester and how their life story may have influenced their theory. The paper should be comprised of one page of biographical facts about the theorist and about two pages relating this biography to particular theories of this thinker (how did the theorist’s life inform his ideas?). The paper should have at least one reference from a biographical source and at least one reference from the theorist’ own writings (as well as sources from class and Powerpoints). This paper will be graded for accuracy and applicability of both theory and biography.

Theorist: Marx, Max weber, Tocqueville, Durkheim
